The most common form of glaucoma, chronic open-angle glaucoma, is a serious disease that can lead to blindness. Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) reduces intraocular pressure, a key risk factor for glaucoma, by promoting aqueous drainage. SLT laser therapy can be used in addition to, or sometimes as a replacement for, medical glaucoma therapy (drops). It often allows glaucoma patients to free themselves from the burden and side effects of glaucoma medications.
