YAG laser for posterior capsular opacification and iridotomy
Some time after cataract surgery (months or years), the so-called “posterior capsular opacification“ may develop, which is the clouding of the posterior capsule of the lens. This opacification cause blurred vision and can be effectively treated with YAG laser, a painless therapy that restores transparency and vision in just a few minutes. YAG laser is also used to treat a particular form of glaucoma, angle-closure glaucoma, or the anatomical condition (shallow anterior chamber) predisposing to this form of glaucoma, making a little hole in the iris (iridotomy).
